The word Tawakkaul often heard and advised holds a whole historical and present day stories. Usually at the hard times and undesirable situations most of the people around; tell us to have faith and believe on Allah and His plans. But Tawakkaul is not only restricted for times when everything around is out of “our planned moments and circumstances”. It is Tawakkaul that makes you drive a car or makes you go out of the house or makes you do shopping or makes you meet your friend or makes you carry out all your chores or to eat food and so on. The everyday life routine depends and revolves on this Tawakkaul. Ever thought of it? Or just kept this Tawakkaul for carrying out all the future plans or at the tough times?
Here the amazing story states; the story that carries thousands of lessons, inspirations and encouragements. The story whose every bit is not only a lesson but a motivation to go forth even in your worst days and nights. It is the story of UMME MUSA A.S.; the mother who carried a soft heart becomes the strongest lady of the times.
The Quranic verse 7 to 13 of Surah Qasas explains the whole situation in a very beautiful way. In the 7th Ayah; وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِي وَلَا تَحْزَنِي ۖ إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ﴿٧﴾(“And We inspired to the mother of Moses, “Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him
Further in the next part, Allah commands of doing two things; one is easy, to feed the baby and the other is difficult, to put it in a basket and let it flow in the river, not knowing where it will go but it was only possible because of her Ima’ane kamil that Allah won’t send her empty handed.
Then in the further next portion, Allah commands to refrain from doing two things; fear and sorrow, as these both are a constant hurdle in a person’s success and satisfaction and so Almighty commands to stay away from these elements of Shaita’an, these may drag away from believing in Allah.
And then finally, in the last portion Allah reveals two good tidings; one is Musa will be returned and that He will make him one of His prophets. The glad tidings that strengthens the believer and makes more courageous at hard and difficult times.
In the Ayah 8th and 9th,
(“And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners. And the wife of Pharaoh said, “[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son.” And they perceived not.”)
Allah SWT beautifully contents a person that at times when everything seems impossible and destructive Allah will make his/her enemy a source of help and will soften their hearts. Also the weaker like Sayyadina Asiyah RA as in this scenario, gets the courage to stand for the weaker and becomes the greatest support.
In Ayah 10th, وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَارِغًا ۖ إِن كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِهِ لَوْلَا أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿١٠﴾ (“And the heart of Moses’ mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers.”)
Allah SWT explains His mercy and how He helps a momin; the one submitting in front of Him and obeying His commands, like He made Umme Musa AS paralyzed of emotion, calmed her mind and stabled and firmed her heart so she doesn’t utter a word out of fear or emotions.
(“And she said to his sister, “Follow him”; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not. And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, “Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?””)
These ayahs emphasize on a very important lesson which we usually neglect and as this Hadith also narrates; Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Tie her and trust in Allah.”(Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2517; Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Albani). Umme Musa AS along having tawakkul and believe, tied the camel i.e. sent her daughter to chase the basket alongside the river. This clearly focuses on the importance of taking steps along believing and reckoning, struggling and making efforts. No one could take care of the baby Musa AS and so he was returned to her mother. It was the mighty plan and His Qadr to test mother of Musa (AS).
In the very next ayah 13th which is also the last ayah of this story, Allah amazes His believers by revealing that He returned him to her and that He always fulfils His promises but it is us who don’t believe and doubt, فَرَدَدْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّـهِ حَقٌّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿١٣﴾ (“So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know.”)
The end was mesmerizing and warming, the road in the end has a bright, shiny and glowing sun. But people reach there only due to Tawakkul. Every dark line becomes the whole bright chapter due to Tawakkal. Tawakkal leads to destinations and promises do fulfill at His right time. Tawakkal makes a man strong to face everyday challenges, prepares him to be ready to fight back, makes him smile when the whole body aches and there seems no way out.
Tawakkul is not only at hard times or for future dreams it is for every step cause without Tawakkal the easiest route becomes the hardest and the most difficult. It is Tawakkal due to which you get up from your bed even with sleepless nights because you know the bright day out is bidding for you and that storm will pass as every dark has a bright end.
So next time when you feel down, broken, lonely, trapped, distressed or disappointed , open the Quran; the stories will amaze you and you’ll end up positive and content. Be optimistic and take your step towards your vision with Tawakkal and believe. You’re a warrior and a bright day awaits your way…
